Objective and Logical book

This is the second edition of the book, that seems to incorporate complementary ideas to the first edition.

I really liked it, since it gives very detailed explanation of how anticipating where the market may react in your favor and positioning there before price hits that price, can give you an edge of entering with a small risk, that is part of a good capital preservation defensive plan of trading. I bought the book since I use that kind of trading and also I was able to view inside the book and noticed that it uses very few technical indicators, which are late in giving you signals and expose you to bigger loses than if you anticipate price turns with very tight stop loss.

By the way, in order to enjoy the book, you can go to his website and there you will find all the charts of the book, something that I discovered early when I read the last pages and noticed that.

The author uses a couple of indicators that he sells for a very low price in his website also, but they work only for Tradestation. One of the indicators is based on price, to give you an idea of overbought and oversold conditions. The other is related to the use of market internals and how he interprets that information to determine if the market is trending or ranging. In my opinion, if you have access to market internals, it is not necessary to use this indicator, once you understand the concept of what he does, but as an Engineer that he is, he has devised a clever way to let the chart tell you what condition the market is, without major doubt.

The author has made a big effort to explain with great detail his price patterns and setups, but it will take some time to digest all the information contained in the book, that for me is the book I would have liked to have available in my early years of looking for the Holy Grail, since I started as most.. using technical indicators to evolve now to use none and base my trading in anticipating levels of reaction and watching how the market behaves there.

It is a good book, once you clean your charts and start looking for what he teaches, you will start finding low risk points of entry in your charts, with the potential of catching some runners.

Critical Insights into Trading E-Mini Futures Contracts

Though I have been an investor / swing trader in stocks and options over the last 10+ years, I recently left the corporate world and am attempting to day-trade futures full time as my primary source of income. I am completely new to trading in the futures markets and have been recently investigating different futures philosophies and trading systems available. I was baffled by much of what I read in books others had recommended I read (I was unable to take what I had read and put it into action). Further, I was not trusting of much of what I found on the internet to be over-hyped systems promising almost guaranteed fortunes. But, I then stumbled onto Mr. Gutmann's book on a search on Amazon and was really glad I did. Mr. Gutmann's system is one of taking what information the market is providing to you on a daily basis in combination with other key indicators and price levels and anticipating market moves by identifying pattern set-ups resulting in high probability trades. Also very key is the chapter on trade management which provides great insights on fading out of a multi-contract position to move to a no-loss position in the hopes of letting a winner run. I have been very pleased with this book providing a framework approach to trading the Futures Markets and the ability I am gaining in understanding the "auction process" and how to interpret what the market is signaling to you (and knowing where to look and what to look for to get those signals).

Mr. Gutmann also offers his technical indicators to you for a mere $200 that you can run in Tradestation that are key to visualizing the key price levels and market internals to trade with that are emphasized in the book. Once I purchased the indicators, Mr. Gutmann put me on his email list and sends out multiple emails each week in which he shares what trades he has made during the day / week and to re-emphasize much of the setups in the book (FYI, inter-market divergences are just one of the many key things you will learn to keep an eye on - but you'll have to read the book to understand the leaders and followers). When I bought the indicators I was new to Tradestation and had some issues in setup, Mr. Gutmann responded expeditiously after I sent an email to him and he called me right away and walked me through the setup. I find Mr. Gutmann to be a very solid ethical and conscientious individual who is dedicated to sharing his ever-evolving knowledge in trading the E-Mini markets and I value his knowledge/experience very much. Mr. Gutmann is a real futures day-trader doing it for a living and uses what he shares in his book. I believe you will get a lot out of this book, no matter your knowledge level. I have recommended it to my trading friends.

Insightful and informative for more advanced traders

I found this book to be one of the best I've read on an advanced technique used to trade the e-mini index futures. Mr. Gutmann has written a very complete description of his methodologies, and the theories and principals that support them. Beyond just publishing the book, he also sends occasional supporting emails, and makes the customized indicators for Tradestation available at very little cost.

The discussion on Market Profile theory is the best application I've seen on that topic. Combined with the use of Cumulative Ticks and other market views, Gutmann presents a complete approach that can be applied directly or used by traders to improve their own systems.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to day trade the e-minis. The title is a bit long ;-) , but the content is extremely helpful.

Bali, the Ultimate Guide 2012

I have never seen such a complete guide book. Usually when there are pretty pictures the detail parts on how and where to do things are lacking. Not the case here. And the map pages: They show street names, hotels, markets, restaurants, dive centers, medical clinics, temples, and other attractions ALL ON ONE MAP. You do not have to flip pages back and forth to figure out if the restaurant is located next to the hotel. In addition, there is a separate fold-out large scale map so you can see for yourself whether you should turn right or left in a congested area. As for history and culture and travel advice, I'm not sure there is any topic not covered in this guide book. When I go to Bali, I will take only this book, not 3 or 4 different ones like I usually do when I travel. Diane Camp

Yes! This IS the Ultimate Guide to Bali

As someone who's been to Bali many times I can say this book is a must-have whether it's your first trip or your 50th. From the insider details written on history, culture, food and art, to religion, geography and everything in between, the book satisfies those who love to really learn about places they visit. Couple that background with a wealth of detailed information on all the obvious things a travel book should tell you like where to stay and dine at different price levels, what to do in the area, including things off the beaten path, where to shop and so on and the book is worth every cent. Yet many books will give you this information and still not be the best choice.

What makes this book so great in my view is the ease of use. The island is divided up into sections and all the information for that area is not only easy to find, the beautifully printed photos entice you to visit places you might not have considered.

Yet even more important to my map geek heart are the intricate, detailed maps spread throughout the entire book. These are full color maps of regions as well as smaller areas like the popular Ubud or beaches. Hotels, restaurants, tourist destinations are all clearly marked and the map is placed right in that section of the book. No need to flip back and forth trying to figure out where you're heading. In addition the book includes a beautiful pull out map of the whole island with a pocket in the back cover so it stays all together nicely. A fantastic addition to the book.

Ms. Hoffman's many years both as a traveler throughout Indonesia and as a travel writer are evident on every page. She revised and wrote you the book she wished she'd had to guide her around the island. I've truly not encountered a better guide to Bali before and I've seen many of them. I don't believe you'll be disappointed.

Good College guide

Interesting volume which is full of advice. Not all of it applies to each person, and perhaps the title is an overstatement. However, there is a very worthwhile section for the athlete trying to get into college. And in general no one can guarantee admission, but the tips in this book are proven to have worked at least once! A detailed guide to the mysteries of the application process, but not to be taken too seriously.

All the goodness of a full length novel

This lovely little gem is the third book in a series by Anne Calhoun. I discovered the author through a review by Anna over at Herding Cats and Burning Soup. The books are all novellas, so they are quick reads. However, they are jam packed with all the goodness of a full length novel.

Specifically for this book, I was excited to see the theme was second chance at love that didn't originally end in some kind of serious heartache. Charlie and Jamie didn't hook up in high school and end up separated over some stupid drama trauma. They separated because Charlie had goals and dreams and ambitions that she wanted to give her very best to achieving. Were there also some personal demons and issues? Of course, but without misunderstandings from any of the aforementioned drama trauma, the bulk of the story quickly dives into them now. Oh there were some before memories, but they were more about how far they come then rehashing old grievances.

There was a bit of a mention of the characters from the prior 2 books, but more in passing than anything else. This totally works as a stand alone. I was able to quickly consume this book in one sitting, and left the book with a bit of a lump in my throat, and a smile on my face. I had a wonderful time and can't wait to get the next book in the series. I gave this 4 stars, a very high rating for a novella.

Wonderful characters with thrilling chemistry.

Book 3 in the SEAL Series, The SEAL's Second Chance by Anne Calhoun is an excellent read. The SEALS from the first two books in the series make a very minor appearance in this book, you do not need to have read those stories. I have read all three and each stands alone just fine. I will say that each in very unique as to the SEALS and their stories. This is not cookie cutter series.

I liked Jamie and his commitment to rekindle feelings that Charlie and he had in high school. He is a true blue hero in my book with his choices in life. I thoroughly understood why Charlie kept him at arm’s length back then. I even admired how she has made a career for herself and now has return to make a difference in other girls of poverty lives. Since both of these characters were easy to like and admire, you couldn’t but hope that Jamie would wear down Charlie’s resistant.

The only thing that could have made this story more perfect would have been an epilogue seeing how the distant factor was worked out for them, say like a year later. It seems to me that the first two books let us see how the characters would solve their problems but I didn’t see how that was going to work for Jamie and Charlie.

I just loooove a second chance romance done well! The Seal’s Second Chance is not only done well, it’s done right!

In high school, they only met on the court for their one-on-ones and never made it past third base. Charlie has always been driven. Driven by the fear of making the mistakes of her mother, Charlie refuses to do anything that would jeopardize her chances for a scholarship and an education to get her out of the home she is in. That includes letting her guard down and her heart prevail where Jamie Hawthorn is concerned.

Years have passed since high school. Jamie, a navy seal home on leave, has one thing in mind. Getting Charlie back on the court. Hearing she has moved back and is now teaching and coaching at their old high school, Jamie is on a mission. He will finally win and keep the heart of the girl that he has always loved.

The Seal’s Second Chance is as sweet as it is sexy. I grinned, laughed, and awed my way through it. Charlie and Jamie have a wonderful chemistry that will have you speed-reading ‘til the end. It’s a fun read that any second-chance-romance fan will absolutely love.

This is a great overview on the electrical engineering part of mechatronics! I assume it is equally good for the mechanical and programming parts, but so far I've only focused on the electrical. I could probably give a better review at the end of the semester...

Camilla & Charles: A Selfish Love Affair

While I felt that this was an interesting read I felt the author painted an unfair portrait of Diana. She portrayed Diana as a crazy, unstable shrew and yet it was Charles refusal to end his relationship with Camilla that caused Diana to be so unhappy and angry. I don't think there are very few women on this planet that would be happy and accept the fact that their husband has a mistress for 20 years that he refuses to give up after marriage. It proved to me at least, that Diana was justified in her ending her marriage and giving up the throne. The author paints Charles and Camilla as 2 poor lovers who go through hell just to be together. I felt no sympathy for either of them. But it is an engrossing book none the less.

What we learn is that the upper class in the UK is alive and sick with its own moral code. Do what you want, just don't talk about it.
I like the author's style of writing, but don't really care for Camilla.
