Is the bridal gown a matchmaker?
Kate Winton-Jones is marrying one of America’s most eligible bachelors; Edward Carnarvon III is rich, handsome and hers. But at the final fitting of her wedding gown, one of the seamstresses pricks her and a tiny blood spot appears on the outrageously expensive gown. Its famous designer fires the clumsy seamstress on the spot, whereupon the girl puts a curse on the dress and storms out. Kate doesn't believe in curses. She’s modern, American and in love with the perfect guy. What could go wrong?
But that very evening she meets a man who makes her question her future. And then she discovers that Edward has been hiding a secret or two… and before she can say, “This dress is so cursed,” she’s on the run from Edward, his family, her mother, the paparazzi and the person she thought she was.
When the man who discovers her hiding place turns out to be the last man she should trust, it’s time to throw her cautious good sense out with the satin shoes she won’t be wearing. Playing it safe hasn’t done her much good. Maybe it’s time to play by a new set of rules. Her rules.
Sometimes Prince Charming is the one who turns out to be the frog, and true love appears in the most unexpected places.

Review
Oh, my goodness! I haven't had such fun reading a novel in months. If you love romantic stories - if you enjoy romantic comedy - and if you just love a good love story, then have I got a novel for you. Keeperbookshelf.com
I am a huge fan of Nancy Warren, because she has a masterful skill in writing interesting characters, fun dialogue, and realistic settings. I really connected with Kate and cheered as she grew from a push over to a master of her own destiny. I would recommend this book to fans of chick lit and contemporary romance. Loved It!
By LJT
I thoroughly enjoyed The Almost Wives Club: Kate, by Nancy Warren. It is a quick, fast paced read that completely took over my world from the very first chapter. The synopsis is a real teaser, yet it is only a small part of what this book is truly about.
Kate Winton-Jones is getting married in three weeks to Ted Carnarvon, a very wealthy guy from a very wealthy family. His parents, along with Kate's mother, will do whatever is necessary to ensure that Kate's baggage up until this point is squeaky clean. Kate believes she is happy and as a result of her pedigree upbringing, never questions any of Ted's activities or exploits. Their relationship eventually goes belly-up after Kate's wedding dress is cursed, she loses her job, meets the love of her life and most importantly, finds her true-self.
I loved Kate and the way Ms. Warren evolved her from a people pleaser into a strong, independent woman. Each discovery Kate makes about her life, whether good or bad, makes her an even wiser person. Kate thought she had everything, a loving and faithful fiance, a job for a non-profit that she liked, and a future filled with babies. On paper she and Ted are perfect for each other, however, womanizer and private investigator Nick Mansfield, helps Kate realize what love truly is all about.
Ms. Warren packs a lot of excitement into this love story and I really liked the way she brought about Kate and Nick's relationship. I don't think I will ever forget how Kate felt when she was betrayed by the people who were supposed to care about her most. Overall, this is well-written and interesting romance that twists and turns in all the right places. I am truly looking forward to reading the second book in the series, Second Hand Bride, when it is published next month.

If you don't care about a character's questionable morals.
By CoffeeMama
I thought the premise was pretty cute, but the character development left something to be desired.
I found it a little unbelievable that she would just jump into bed with Nick after what happened. He is hired to test her fidelity and she just decides that "Hey that's okay. He's not really a bad guy with questionable morals. Let's get naked together." The story was cute but that just ruined it a little bit for me.

The Almost Wives Club Series Book One
By Jutzie
The Almost Wives Club: Kate by Nancy Warren
The Almost Wives Club Series Book One
Kate Winton-Jones is going to get married in a month. When her fiancé leaves the restaurant to go back to work...before their dinner arrives...a rakishly handsome man helps himself to Ted's chair, meal and even conversation. Kate always wanted to please everyone and somewhere in all that pleasing others, she lost herself. One short conversation with a stranger has her rethinking everything. Especially what her life is going to be like being married to Ted...and his family.
Nick Mansfield cannot get the beautiful...engaged...woman out of his mind. There was something about her that stands out more than any other woman he has ever known. And he has known plenty of women. If only she weren't engaged.
Another story that pulls the reader in and doesn't let go. I loved watching Kate change from who others wanted her to be, to who she really was. Loved Nick as well. I'm looking forward to more books in this series.
