"I really like how organic their relationship was and how natural their friends to lovers situation grew. Obviously things are never as smooth as you would like them to be and misunderstandings are many in their relationship but deep down you can see how much they care for each other. During their ups and downs I really enjoyed how truly strong Rory was, she certainly was not some meek woman who would be a push over to a man or allow him to mistreat her.Also in this book you get to meet the rest of the guys who served with Luke in the Marines. They all are very protective and loving of Rory and are will to be there if she needs them. Reed is one of my favorite characters and he is one of Aurora's best friends. He adds just the right amount of humor when it's needed and also the voice of reason when things get out of control. I love that the guys have a good level of brotherly love towards each other, which is evident in the way joke around and are there for each other. I can't wait to read the other 4 books coming out in this series."..

I liked it....3 and a half stars...

I was surprised in a good way with this book. The author has some featured works with risqué titles that are not part of my general reading topics.
I liked the characters and the camaraderie among the guys. The story follows the h who has always been in love with her brother’s best friend, the H. He has the same feelings. Neither has acted upon their feelings because of their common denominator…the brother/best friend. A sad event leads the two to admit their feelings and pursue a relationship. Apparently they were the only two who were not aware of their feelings for each other.
What was refreshing was that the H was not depicted as a manho and that there were no pregnant exes that popped up. The story focused on the two main characters supporting each other in their time of need. The relationship between the h and the guys added color to the backdrop of the story.
I only gave the story three and a half stars because I thought the sad event was a downer throughout the story and it was kind of depressing. I get that the event was the reason that everyone came together, but it overshadowed the romance part of the story. Let these two be happy without anything clouding their time together. I also wanted more from the two characters. What I read, I liked. I wanted more from the two as they explored the added romance dimension to their relationship.
I look forward to the story with the next character.

Not What I Expected . . .

This had been on my TBR list for a while and I was really excited when I saw it was on sale. I think I just was expecting more than the end result here.
The writing style took me a bit to get used too, the dialogue was kind of choppy and dull for me. I didn't really get any of the normal chemistry you feel between the H and h. And in the end I couldn't really stand the h. She was so . . . lame is the word I'm looking for. I didn't understand her laid back seemingly unaffected reaction to what happened to Nolan (view spoiler) The author tells you that she cries and feels pain but in the next breath she's okay with not feeling guilty or completely crushed that this man that was her rock and a really great person is now gone. She's totally okay with just moving on?
If you're going to use that situation as a plot device I expected more emotional struggle. I was told that she suffers but I never really felt it. Luke showed more feeling for his bff than the sister in this scenario and it just felt wrong.
I liked Luke as the H, he was okay but way too beta for my tastes. idk what it is but lately the Hs in the books I've read have been paired up with immature and down right bratty hs. I feel bad for them :(

Aurora, a.k.a. Rory, has loved Luke for as long as she can remember, but he only thinks of her like a sister, or so she thought. Luke has loved Rory for a long time, but being her brother Nolan's best friend marks her as off limits. When a tragic event shatters their worlds, Luke is there to help her pick up the pieces and claim her as his in the process. Aurora (Rory) is such a strong, independent and caring woman that has seen her share of tragedy and with the help of her friends, she will get through it. Throughout the book we also get to know the band of brothers that served with Luke and Nolan in the Marines and the love they have for Rory. The chemistry between Luke and Rory was off the charts HOT and the sexy times were so steamy I needed a cold shower! There were times I cried, times I laughed and times I wanted to scream and through it all I couldn't wait to see what was next. Although Reed is my favorite, I absolutely can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series! This was an excellent read and I would highly recommend it.
